Payments for businesses serving Southern Africa

Get paid by customers across Southern Africa, the way they already pay.

One checkout for the mobile money wallets and cards your customers use, with every payment confirmed, referenced and recorded in one dashboard. Starting in Zimbabwe with EcoCash, OneMoney and cards; MTN MoMo and M-Pesa are planned as we expand across the region.

Applications are open for our pilot. Live payments start once our partner and regulatory approvals are in place.

How money moves

One link. Three parties. Every step on record.

This is how a payment works once live payments start. During the pilot, checkouts run in demo mode: nothing is charged and nothing is settled.

  1. 1

    Your customer

Pays the way they already do

They open your PayBridge link, pick EcoCash, OneMoney or card, and approve the payment on their own phone or card.

  2. 2

    PayBridge

    Confirms and records it

We confirm the payment with the provider, give it a reference, and show it in your dashboard straight away.

  3. 3

    Your business

    Gets paid

Collected funds are settled to your business bank account, with a statement of every payment and fee.

Payment methods

The wallets your customers use every day.

Mobile money and cards in one checkout, market by market. None are live yet: each switches on for approved businesses when live payments start in that market.

Zimbabwe, our first market

The checkout is built for these methods. They switch on together when live payments start.

  • EcoCash

    Live

Customers pay from their EcoCash wallet.

The customer enters their number and approves a prompt on their own phone.

  • OneMoney

    Live

Customers pay from their OneMoney wallet.

The customer enters their number and approves a prompt on their own phone.

  • Visa and Mastercard

    Live

Customers pay by debit or credit card.

Card details go straight to a certified card processor. They never pass through PayBridge.

The customer approves each payment on their own phone.

How it’s being built

  • Card numbers never reach us

Card details are entered with a certified card processor. PayBridge's checkout has no card-number field by design.

  • Bank details encrypted

The account you ask to be paid into is encrypted before it is stored.

  • Payouts are signed and checked

Every payout request must be cryptographically signed by the business, and larger payouts need approval from two different people.

Questions

Before you apply.

More in the help centre.

Can I take real payments with PayBridge today?

Not yet. We're onboarding pilot businesses now. Live payments start only once our payment partner and regulatory approvals are in place. Until then, checkout links run in demo mode and no money moves.

Which payment methods will my customers be able to use?

In Zimbabwe, our first market: EcoCash, OneMoney, and Visa or Mastercard cards. As we open further Southern African markets we plan to add MTN MoMo and M-Pesa. Mobile money customers approve each payment on their own phone.

Who can apply?

Registered businesses, in Southern Africa or elsewhere, that sell to customers in the region. During the pilot we're onboarding businesses with customers in Zimbabwe. You'll need your company details, registration number, the owner's details and the bank account you want to be paid into.

How much does it cost?

Applying is free. We agree pricing with each pilot business before live payments start, so you'll know the fees before any payment is taken.

How long does approval take?

We review every application individually and reply by email. If we need more information, we'll tell you exactly what.
